I wanted to let you know of another project we’re currently working on and where we’d appreciate any feedback 🙂
The project is called Triple and is supposed to help travelers before, during, and after their trip. You can plan, manage, and share your trips with friends and even print maps as souvenirs.
Below you can see a first mockup of the planning and managing functionality and another one for sharing and printing.
Please feel free to explore our website if we got your interest. Also please consider taking our brief survey and signing up as beta tester for free and without any obligations.
Finally please follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, or add us on Google+. Don’t miss any of our daily advent calender posts.
We have been pondering an idea lately which I presented at an event called “Open Space for ICT” organized by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and hosted by the Austrian Computer Society (OCG) on 27th of November.
The idea is to provide online satellite maps generated from freely available Sentinel 2 data. Typically satellite maps are quite outdated in order to be free of clouds. We think that there are enough use cases in need of current maps, i.e. only using data not older than a month or even less, without the strict requirement of free of clouds.
Additionally we think that there is a certain need to provide a time series of satellite maps with a temporal resolution as low as possible. Monthly maps should definitely be feasible using Sentinel 2 data, maybe even a higher repetition. By monthly maps we mean maps generated from satellite images taken only in one particular ,month.
In summary Sentinel 2 Maps – S2Maps provides:
- Maps as a Service
- Open Data
- RGB Maps
- Time series
